High Vitamin D and calcium intakes have been shown to help alleviate or reduce symptoms of milder PMS. However, there is insufficient evidence that taking Vitamin D or calcium supplements would significantly reduce symptoms for individuals with severe PMDD.
Interestingly, researchers have found differences in calcium and Vitamin D metabolism among women with PMDD compared with control groups.
That said, focusing on a diet rich in calcium and Vitamin D is beneficial for all.
