Endometrial ablation is a gynecological procedure that removes the endometrium, which is the lining of the uterus. It is used to treat heavy bleeding/periods. It is not a treatment for PMDD.
PMDD is a severe negative reaction in the brain to the natural rise and fall of estrogen and progesterone that occur with each ovulation. So while ovulation triggers the start of symptoms of PMDD - the issue is in the brain and not the reproductive organs.
Logically, ablation should not worsen PMDD symptoms, however, some patients have reported this - the numbers of reports are small and this has not been researched. Speak to your provider with any concerns.
