There is some support for Spironolactone’s use in managing the physical PMDD symptoms that some people experience.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study assessing the administration of spironolactone 100 mg/day during the luteal phase found a significant decrease in several PMDD symptoms, such as:

  • swelling

  • breast tenderness

  • food cravings
